Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of bread, crusts removed
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Butter for greasing the pan
To Serve
  • Maple syrup
  • Icing sugar
  • Fresh Berries
  • Yoghurt of choice

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. Heat a frypan over medium heat and add a little butter to grease the pan.
  3. Dip a slice of bread into the egg mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds before flipping to coat the other side.
  4. Place the coated bread in the frypan and repeat with additional slices until the pan is full, without overcrowding.
  5. Cook for a few minutes until the underside is golden brown. Then, using a spatula, flip each slice and cook the other side until golden.
  6. Transfer the cooked French toast to a plate and continue with the remaining slices.
  7. Serve warm with a dusting of icing sugar, a drizzle of maple syrup, and fresh berries. For an extra treat, add a dollop of Greek, coconut or vanilla yoghurt or a scoop of ice cream.

Notes

Bread of choice would be white bread or brioche bread. Ideally 1-2 days old.
