Ingredients

Cheeseball
  • 250g tasty cheddar cheese, grated
  • 250g Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
  • 1 shallot/green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jar gherkin relish
  • 4 slices of shaved ham, finely chopped
Coating
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (not smoked)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the grated cheddar cheese, cream cheese, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, crushed garlic, chopped shallot/green onions, gherkin relish and chopped ham. Using your hands or a spatula, mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and smooth.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavours to develop.
  3. Once chilled, divide the mixture into two balls or four logs, depending on your preference.
  4. On a plate, combine the curry powder and paprika. Mix well.
  5. Roll each cheese ball or log in the spice mixture, using your fingers to gently pat and press the coating for even distribution.
  6. If you’re serving right away, arrange the cheese ball on a platter and pair it with crackers, breadsticks or veggies.

Notes

To freeze, stop after Step 3 and wrap the cheese ball or log tightly in plastic wrap followed by aluminum foil. This keeps it fresh for up to two months!
