Ingredients

  • 2 x Puff pastry sheets
  • Sliced ham or salami cut into strips
  • Grated cheese
  • Tomato sauce
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Italian herbs
  • Garlic granules

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven 200ºC and line 2 baking trays with baking paper. And defrost 2 pastry sheets on a chopping board.
  2. Squeeze tomato and barbecue sauce onto the pastry spread out evenly using the back of a spoon.
  3. Sprinkle italian herbs and garlic granules on top of the sauce evenly.
  4. Scatter ham/salami and cheese on top of the sauces and herbs.
  5. Now is the time to roll up the scrolls.
  6. From one end of the pastry, carefully remove the blue backing plastic and roll the edge of the pastry up and over the filling. Continue to roll the pastry over the filling, removing the blue plastic as you go. Allow to seal at the other end. I usually seal it with the sauce that is on the pastry.
  7. Remove from the plastic and place the rolled pizza log on the board. Using a sharp knife, carefully slice through dough from end to end. I usually can get approximately 10 pieces at roughly 2cm thickness. To achieve even scrolls, cut the log in the middle first, then divide the two halves evenly,
Oven baked
  1. Carefully place scrolls onto a lined baking tray and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Allow to cool on the tray 5 minutes before serving.
Air Fryer
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 200ºC and place the scrolls on the air fryer basket, cook for 8-12 minutes depending on your air fryer. Repeat until all scrolls are cooked.

Notes

To make ahead of time.  Continue steps 1 through to 6.  Then from here you can wrap the blue plastic back over the scroll and place it into a sealed container to be refrigerated.  This is a great way to prepare ahead of time and pull out when you are ready to cook.  I usually prepare these in the morning and cook when needed.  Continue steps 7- 8 to cook.
